The Man who Pursued You First

The Man who Pursued You First
Jessica Sunday

Most women have a desire to be pursed, cherished, and valued by a man, and most men have a desire to be accepted, adored, and valued by a woman. The simple truth is that you want this special place filled, and you want it filled right now. Patience is no longer an option. Furthermore, maybe you already have this place filled by the man or woman of your dreams. Whatever the case, it is important to understand the very first relationship we all should be pursing now whether single or taken – which is, Jesus Christ.

Okay, so maybe I have lost a handful of people right now from typing “Jesus Christ.” The truth of the matter is if you do not develop a genuine relationship with the first man to ever pursue you, your future relationships will crumble if Christ is not the center of them.

The Bible says in Luke 19:10, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” The wonderful news is that He is pursing you! God sent His only Son to be born to die for everyone’s sins and to rise again three days after His brutal death. Jesus died and rose again so that you can have a relationship with Him and can spend eternity in Heaven with Him when you die.

If you are ready to develop a relationship with the Man who is pursuing you, you must receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. The first thing you must realize is that you are a sinner. The Bible says in Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Sin entered the world when Adam ate of the fruit that the Lord told Adam and Eve not to eat. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Because of our sin, we fall short of God’s glory resulting in a broken relationship. The Bible teaches us that our payment for sin is death in Hell. Romans 6:23a says, “For the wages of sin is death;” Nobody wants to hear this bad news, but praise the Lord that this verse does not end here. See, God wants the broken relationship to be restored; therefore, Romans 6:23b continues to say, “… but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” God offers us eternal life in Heaven with Him but only through Him. Did you hear me? It is only offered through Him! No matter how good of a person you are, no matter how you were baptized, no matter how much you attend church, and no matter how much money you give to charities, you cannot obtain salvation through these things.

After you admit you are a sinner in need of a Savior, you need to believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose again. Lastly, you must ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and call upon Him to save you. Romans 10:9-10 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” It is that simple! It is having child-like faith. So, what will your decision be?

If you decided to accept Jesus as your Savior, praise the Lord! He desires for you to develop a relationship with Him before He blesses you with the man or woman He has chosen for you. The more you run hard towards God, the more He will see your genuine devotion to Him. Eventually, He will bless you with a godly man or woman, and both of you will be ready to serve the Lord together in your relationship. For now, keep pursuing the Man who pursued you first.
